2015 Eats and Feels
January 13 – Artsy Cafe – Maginhawa, Diliman
This marks my last year/semester as a UP undergrad. Had a lovely lunch with my girls before we wait in the crazy enrolment lines for the last time.
January 17 – Larcy’s Cupcakery Cafe – Estancia
We were just a bunch of girls searching for inspiration for scripts and prods so we decided to have a date in Pinto Art Museum to get a dose of creativity. We really got a lot of that (and vain photos too) so we recharged and pasta and cupcake and pink drinks, which I forgot what it’s called but it tastes really good!
February 13 – The Sweet Spot Cafe – Maginhawa
Pre-Valentines date with my greatest love, that is, spoken word poetry of course. Had meeting with my unexpected theatre major friend to come up with a spoken word project. We haven’t finalized stuff to this date but I swear we’ll have a big comeback when the timing is right.
February 15 – St. Marc’s Cafe – Mega Fashion Hall
You’d know things are getting tough when I’m with my planner and colored pens and ice cream all at the same time. Golden nugget right there!
March 07 – St. Marc’s Cafe – Mega Fashion Hall
Acads are really tough. It’s thesis implementation time of the month. Strawberry Heaven Parfait this time!
March 23 – Lucca Bakery – Mega Fashion Hall
Four Cheese Mac n Cheese! One of the best I’ve tasted to be honest being the cheese-obsessed person I am. This day I gave my already working best friend his graduation photos and we had a lot of catching up over this and pesto pasta and spinach artichoke and red velvet cake. The cream cheese was so delish I swear. But then again, I love anything cheese!
June 05 – Slappy Cakes – SM North EDSA
Finally turned the hardbound copies of my thesis! Got to enjoy pasta and (cooking) pancakes afterwards. Definitely a well-deserved for myself and for the sissy who had been patient helping me survive my
June 07 – Dolcelatte – Mega Fasion Hall
Peanut butter and jelly thingy! This was what I had for dinner after grad dress-hunting. It felt good enjoying kid stuff before braving the adult life.
June 10 – Custaroonery – Mega Fasion Hall
Just sharing a photo of my favorite box of sweets! It’s like heaven
in small cups!
June 15 – The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf – Trinoma
Just really wanted to feel Christmas in June. Of course CBTL dnever offered classic puto bumbong in their menu. Grabbed it from a bazaar and paired it with coffee. Yummy!
June 20 – Crisp on 28th – BGC
Cake and shake date with my high school besties. Well, I don’t really believe in having a bestfriend ’cause that’s too much commitment. Here’s to the best people who stayed. It’s been nice watching ourselves grow up and mature even an itsy bit. Quoting from the film That Thing Called Tadhana “To the great people we will be!”
June 22 – Torch – Trinoma
Impromptu dinner with my pseudo sister! We expected the pizza to be only a quarter of its actual size so imagine how our jaws dropped when the waitress served it to us. It’s nice when things that go unexpected turn out to work on your favor.
June 26 – Banana Leaf – Trinoma
Pad Thai and Pandan Chicken and fancy ceiling deco to complete my night. Was with an awesome friend sharing awesome stories the whole time
June 28 – Lugang – Mega Fashion Hall
Lugang has been a go-to Sunday resto for us but this time’s beautifully different because I celebrated my finishing college with friends and family I haven’t seen for a while. Cheers for good food and good company and a hopefully a good career life ahead!
July 05 – Pinkberry – Mega Fashion Hall
Just loading up on “healthy calories” if they even really exist. Frozen yogurt with lots of toppings never fails to save a rather ordinary day.
July 19 – Seafood Island/Iceberg – Eastwood
Seafood boodle fight style for lunch and halo-halo for dessert. Filipino food will forever be fantastic (just like my little sister who’s my default Sunday date).
August 09 – Starbucks – Technohub
Sugar overload because of these after dinner desserts and because I was with my best friend and buddy who, I think and wish and pray, I get to keep for the rest of my life.
August 11 – A Veneto Pizzeria Ristorante – Trinoma
(Not so) Fresh from job interview and medical. Tried too hard to adult so we ended up famished so we ordered more than we can finish and in a minute or so, we were all bloated. I really couldn’t carry my own fat belly after this meal and all they could do was laugh at me. What are true friends for, right?
August 28 – Poco Deli – Kapitolyo
Worked on crazy adult papers and matters the entire day so I had to have pasta and cake for dinner. Had my first carrot cake ever and it was so delish cause of the cream cheese! P.S. Thanks to sister dear for keeping me company as always.
September 11 – Yellow Cab – Greenfield District
Pizza x Pasta x Potato Wedges x Art Magazine before meeting our yearbook publisher! Loved this part so much: (Interviewer) “What if someone tells you your existentialism does not sell?” (Artist)”I’m stubborn. I still want to humanize people.”
September 18 – The Primary/Churreria La Lola – UP Town Center
You can never be too busy for the most important people in your life. Here’s to working apart but keeping touch. Super thankful for the impromptu lunch catch-up!
September 20 – Brown’s – Greenfield District
Family lunch out care of yours truly because I got my first-ever salary! Everything in life is right and good just like all their food. RHymes intended because why not?
September 27 – Lucca Bakery – Mega Fashion Hall
TStrawberry Creamcheese Cupcake x Banana Caramel Walnut x Marshmallow Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate to comfort thyself after watching the thought-provoking masterpiece, Heneral Luna
October 04 – Tuan Tuan – Mega Fashion Hall
Being the fickle-minded girls we are, it took us more than an hour to settle for a restaurant that meet our topmost priority: It should be artsy and instagrammable. What can we do? We’re typical millenials and we love it!
October 09 – Cupcakes by Sonja – Trinoma
Two writers, one poet and one playwright, decided to meet to set up a greeting card business! There’s no follow through yet since the timing doesn’t seem right yet but I’m looking forward to it. I think it’s good to wake up every day knowing you don’t have everything you want to have ’cause that means you got good reasons to get up the next morning and the next and the next until dreams are no longer just dreams but realities that are worth the wait.
November 30 – Mann Hann – SM North EDSA
Chinese for lunch with my constants!
